Success Stories

Alex

Alex was surrendered by his previous owners because he wasn't cutting it as a field trial dog. However, Lisa, President of IBR, recognized his true potential! She tested him on planted pigeons and quickly realized Alex did have a fantastic hunting instinct. After taking Alex to the forest preserve, Lisa also learned that he handled really nicely off leash. So, she decided to enter him in the Central Prairie Field Trial this past October. Alex did a fabulous job at the field trial. He took 2nd place in Derby and 2nd place in Puppy! What a good boy!

Alex and Lisa at the field trial. Alex took 2nd place in both the Puppy and Derby classes.

Shortly after the field trial, Alex was adopted by Lyn and Ben. As you can see from the pictures, Alex is living the good life - a life most pointers dream of. He has a comfy place to lay in front of the fire and he gets to go hunting with his new Dad! On a hunting trip in mid-December, Alex pointed and retrieved 7 pheasants! Ben and his hunting companions were thrilled! Not bad for a field trial reject!!!
